Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, announced that the 23rd edition of Sharjah Heritage Days (SHD) will be held from February 4 to 15, 2026, under the theme “Radiance of Authenticity.”

The announcement was made during a press conference at Al Bait Al Gharbi, Al Mureijah Square. Portugal has been selected as the guest of honor, and the event will feature participation from 29 countries. Free parking and transportation services will be available for visitors, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Focus on Portugal as Guest of Honour

Dr Al Musallam explained that Portugal’s selection as guest of honor aligns with the festival’s vision of promoting cultural dialogue and global engagement. A renowned Portuguese designer has been commissioned to create the Portuguese pavilion, showcasing Portugal’s historical influence from Arab culture over more than 500 years, visible in arts, architecture, language, and customs.

Rich programme of events

This edition of Sharjah Heritage Days will feature a program of over 1,000 events, including heritage, cultural, and artistic performances, as well as folk group performances from Europe, Asia, and Africa. The activities are designed to offer visitors a comprehensive cultural experience, reflecting both local Emirati traditions and the heritage of participating countries.

Visitor services and facilities

To accommodate the anticipated high turnout, the festival will provide additional parking spaces and valet services, free transportation for visitors from Dubai and Ajman, and internal shuttle services between event venues. These measures are intended to ensure visitor comfort and facilitate seamless participation across all activities, pavilions, and performances.

Promoting heritage and cultural exchange

Al Musallam emphasised that Sharjah Heritage Days continues to highlight authentic Emirati heritage, while also serving as a platform for international cultural exchange. The festival allows nations to showcase how they preserve and present their heritage for future generations in contemporary and engaging ways.
