Brazilian Gabriel Jesus starred, scoring a brace for the London club in the 10th and 31st minutes. Substitute Swedish striker Victor Gyökeres added the third goal, while Croatian Petar Susic scored Inter’s sole goal in the 18th minute.
This was only the third match in which Jesus started, indicating his return to peak performance after a cruciate ligament tear kept him out for almost a year.
Speaking to Amazon Prime, Jesus said: “It is a dream night for me. I have always dreamt of being a footballer. I used to watch matches as a child and saw many Serie A games. Being here in this stadium and scoring here brings tears to my eyes because I have always dreamed of this moment.”
He added: “There is always a reason for things happening, whether good or difficult, and I learned that during the 11 months I spent away from the pitch.”
With this loss, Inter suffered their third defeat against four wins, leaving them with 12 points in eighth place in the group.
