This session, titled "Cybersecurity: Towards Child-Friendly Content for Arab Children," will discuss one of the most prominent contemporary challenges facing childhood in the digital world.
Through this session, APC aims to provide an effective dialogue platform for its child members, representing the Arab world, to explore ways to enhance digital security and create a safe and positive online environment suitable for all age groups.
This theme is a direct response to rapid technological change and its associated potential risks, underscoring the Parliament's commitment to addressing current issues through participatory approaches that place the child at the heart of its concerns. The session is expected to feature rich and constructive discussions, during which members of parliament from various Arab countries will share their perspectives, personal experiences, and the challenges they have faced in the digital world.
The session will also explore ways to enhance cooperation among relevant institutions in Arab countries to develop unified standards for child-friendly content and to raise awareness of cybersecurity among both children and their parents.
This meeting is a continuation of the leading role played by APC, under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, in nurturing and empowering Arab children and in providing them with a platform to express their views on issues affecting their present and future.
Through such vital sessions, the Parliament emphasises the importance of listening to children's voices and integrating them into the formulation of policies and strategies to build a generation that is conscious, capable of confronting digital challenges, and able to benefit from the opportunities offered by the technological revolution, all within a safe and stimulating environment conducive to creativity.
His Excellency Ayman Othman Al Barout, Secretary-General of APC, explained that selecting this topic reflects a firm belief in the importance of protecting children in the digital space, which has become integral to their educational, recreational, and social lives. He stressed that the session would be a valuable opportunity for members to discuss policies and mechanisms to enhance cybersecurity and to present their ideas and proposals for producing meaningful and safe Arabic content that respects their minds, protects their privacy, and contributes to building their personalities and values.
