Sharjah 24: The House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah is launching a new season of its Book Club themed “Home,” running from November to January 2026. The program includes curated discussions and creative writing workshops focused on the connection between individuals and their origins. It features three selected titles: ‘The Odyssey’ by Homer, ‘House of Stone’ by Anthony Shadid, and ‘Near to the Wild Heart’ by Clarice Lispector, all of which explore the concept of home shaped by memory, identity, absence, return, and loss.

The event featured the raising of the UAE flag and the playing of the national anthem in front of the DCA and the Sharjah International Airport Authority building. Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qassimi, the Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation, attended the celebration alongside many officials, employees from both organizations, and representatives from various agencies situated at the airport. The flag flew high, symbolizing unity and pride in the nation's identity.

During the event, Sheikh Khalid emphasized that Flag Day serves as a moment to reflect on the journey of the UAE's unity and the remarkable progress it has made. He pointed out how this day allows everyone to express their pride in the accomplishments achieved under wise leadership that prioritizes people. He shared that this special occasion represents the unity of Emirati society and the solidarity among all who live in the UAE, under one flag that symbolizes love, belonging, and loyalty to the nation.

Sheikh Khalid also reaffirmed the Department's commitment to supporting Sharjah’s aviation sector, ensuring it continues to grow and serve as a safe and advanced global hub for air travel by investing in local talent and embracing innovative ideas.

Ali Al Midfa highlighted that Flag Day is a time when we come together to celebrate the unity of the UAE and the strength of our community. On this special day, we reaffirm our loyalty to our wise leaders and remember the flag of our Union, which was lifted high thanks to the efforts of our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the other leaders who helped shape our nation. This flag represents the dedication of many generations who have contributed to building our country and reflects the strong connection between our people and their leadership as we strive for progress and honor.

Al Midfa pointed out that Flag Day is not just a ceremony; it is a shared responsibility that inspires everyone—young and old, students, workers, and families—to show their appreciation for the nation. He encourages all to raise the flag every day as a symbol of gratitude through meaningful actions that demonstrate our loyalty, determination, and belief in a brighter future. May God protect the UAE, its leaders, and its people, and may our flag continue to soar high, symbolizing our pride and ongoing growth.
