The programme reflects SPL’s role as an active educational community hub that promotes reading, hands-on learning, cultural values, and stronger links between knowledge, identity, innovation, and family life. It also includes a special session as part of the “Authors under the Spotlight” initiative.
As part of the initiative, SPL will host a panel discussion in English with writer Hilda Youssef on 15 February at 4:00pm at the Literature Café in Al Heera, Sharjah. The programme highlights influential literary works and introduces readers to the lives and ideas of prominent writers, reinforcing a culture of reading across communities.
Children aged 6–13 can take part in workshops and storytelling sessions. Highlights include “Lanterns of Riddles” at Wadi Al Helo Library on February 26 at 10:00am, and the heritage-themed “Heritage Threads” workshop at the Sharjah Social Services Department on February 12 at 9:00am.
Ahead of Ramadan, sessions include “Layla and the Month of Ramadan” at Wadi Al Helo Library on February 8, and “The Ramadan Flavours Kitchen” at Kalba Library on February 12 at 8:00pm.
For young adults aged 14–18, events focus on innovation and skill development, including “The World of Amazing Phenomena” at Kalba Library on 17 February at 10:00am.
Adults can join reading clubs and cultural sessions, such as “How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci” at Dibba Al Hisn Library on 22 February at 10:00am, and “Ramadan Nights of Entertainment” at Bait Sheikh Saeed Al Qasimi Museum on 21 February at 8:00pm.
Self-development activities on 12 February include the book signing of “You Are the Author” by Dr Abeer Jomaa Al Hosani at Al Dhaid Library and the “The Dream Bag” event at Khorfakkan Library.
The programme also features events that bring families together in cultural settings. Wadi Al Helo Library will host “Ramadan Vibes” at Lamma Baraka Ladies Club on 16 February at 7:30pm, while Khorfakkan Library will organise “Mothers Who Make an Impact” on 21 February at 9:00am.
Other events include “Discover Me with Love” at the Family Development Theatre in Al Dhaid on 23 February at 10:00am, and “My Tale with Grandpa” at the Department of Social Services on 26 February at 1:00pm.
