Sharjah24: This year's Ramadan, the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) will host several competitions with prizes worth more than AED 1.5 million. The programmes aim to provide viewers with entertainment and the chance to win valuable rewards throughout the holy month.

Designed to combine entertainment with cultural enrichment, this year’s line-up features a range of interactive formats, giving viewers and participants the chance to join in—and to win substantial cash prizes.

Al Nishan

The centrepiece of the schedule is Al Nishan, the long-running heritage quiz programme broadcast on Sharjah TV. Filmed live from Aljada, one of the emirate’s liveliest districts, the show takes place in a specially designed studio inspired by Sharjah’s traditional architecture. Its set draws on the textures of the old city walls and the essence of Emirati urban life, evoking scenes from past generations’ daily lives and celebrating the enduring spirit of local heritage.

The programme continues throughout Ramadan and will run until Eid Al-Fitr.

This year's Al Nishan is hosted by Ismail Al Sheibani, Naji Khamis, and Abdullah Al Hammadi, whose lively camaraderie brings warmth and humour to the show. The format combines live call-in questions, brain-teasing challenges, interactive segments, and competitions for the public attending in person at Aljada.

Each episode offers participants the chance to win one of 15 prizes, each valued at AED 1,000—a popular incentive that has become a highlight of Sharjah’s Ramadan evenings.

Najm Al Majalis

Najm Al Majalis has returned for its sixth season on Sharjah Radio and Television and the Maraya platform, bringing together lively competitions and moments that both educate and entertain. The programme brings together families and members of Sharjah’s suburban councils, competing in a lively, friendly atmosphere that combines knowledge with fun.

This year, the competition offers cash prizes totalling around AED 400,000, along with a car for the first-place team. Viewers also have a chance to win a car through a raffle, in addition to a host of daily cash and in-kind prizes. Sharjah TV broadcasts the programme daily at 9 p.m., while Sharjah Radio airs it from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The winning team will receive AED 70,000 in cash from the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), along with a car provided by Sharjah Islamic Bank. The runners-up will also be rewarded: the second-place team will receive AED 50,000 from the Department of Suburban Affairs, while the third- and fourth-place teams will receive AED 30,000 and AED 15,000, respectively, from SBA.

In addition to the main prizes, each episode includes daily awards for the live studio audience, totalling AED 4,000 per day and AED 116,000 over the season. The final episode will also feature a draw for a car, kindly sponsored by Sharjah Islamic Bank, giving one lucky audience member the chance to take home an exciting prize.

Al Souq Al Qadeem and Question of the Day

Sharjah TV’s Eastern Channel from Korfakkan brought the sights and sounds of the city’s historic marketplace to life through its popular show Al Souq Al Qadeem (The Old Market) . Presenters Khalid Al Dhabit and Omar Ahmed welcomed Khalifa Mohammed Al Saahi and Khamis Ahmed Al Naqbi to the studio, where they shared stories, memories, and insights into local traditions and heritage.

Throughout the show, the presenters wander through Korfakkan and Kalba’s historic markets, speaking with visitors and posing questions that test the audience’s knowledge and allow them to compete for daily prizes. Participants can win daily cash prizes of up to AED 5,000. The Old Market airs every evening from 9:30 to 10:30 pm.

The fun continues with the Question of the Day programme, also on Sharjah TV’s Eastern Channel. Presenter Omar Ahmed visits popular tourist spots across the eastern region, asking questions that give visitors the chance to win daily prizes worth over AED 2,000. The show runs from Monday to Friday at 4:45 pm.

Al Hisn

Al Hisn, broadcast on the central channel from Al Dhaid, continues to entertain audiences with a daily interactive competition. The programme coincides with the Al Dhaid Ramadan Festival, a two-week event that combines fun, heritage, and live audience engagement.

The first segment of the competition airs daily at 10:00 pm, live from Shari’a Al Dhaid Market, while the second segment follows at 10:50 pm from the festival site in Al Hisn. This setup allows viewers from multiple locations to participate. The total value of the prizes offered to audiences during Ramadan is AED 198,000.

Amasi

This Ramadan, Sharjah Radio is bringing its audience closer to the festivities with Amasi, a programme featuring lively interaction and engaging challenges. Presenters Aisha Al Hamoudi, Maryam Al Ajel, Hazaa Al Shehi and Sultan Al Muslim keep viewers involved throughout the show, asking questions, inviting participation, and creating a warm, communal atmosphere that blends entertainment with learning. During the holy month, the programme offers prizes worth more than AED 200,000. Amasi airs daily from 11:00 pm to midnight, except on Fridays.

Ramadan Nights

The English-language radio station Plus 95 hosts Ramadan Nights, featuring playful audience interaction. Listeners can take part in entertaining games and stand a chance to win cash prizes worth more than AED 27,000. Hassan Dhanawi, also known as "Big Hass", presents the show, which airs daily from 9:00 to 10:00 pm, except on Sundays.

What is the name of the recitation?

On the Qur’an Channel, viewers can participate in the Ramadan quiz: “What is the name of the recitation?”, held every Friday at 10:00 pm, twice during the month. Participants have the chance to win prizes totalling AED30,000, with each winner receiving AED1,000. The initiative aims to foster audience engagement, deepen knowledge of Qur’anic sciences, and introduce viewers to the study of recitations and narrations during the holy month.

Iftar cannon competitions

The Iftar Cannon programme, broadcast twenty minutes before the Maghrib call to prayer, offers religious, historical and cultural quizzes. Viewers present at the Majaz Waterfront, as well as participants engaging through the Maraya platform or via text messages, can win daily cash prizes of up to AED 12,000.

Maraya platform challenges

The Maraya platform features daily competitions with prizes up to AED 1,000, alongside the “Street Question” segment, which encourages direct interaction with the public. The Maraya app hosts competitions from the authority’s TV and radio channels, allowing audiences to follow and participate easily, enriching the experience of live engagement

Qadimuna

Finally, Sharjah Media’s digital account Qadimuna on Instagram invites followers to take part in daily quizzes that revive memories of Sharjah. These interactive competitions give participants a chance to win various prizes while celebrating the emirate’s cultural heritage.
