Remarkable comeback
Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain staged a remarkable comeback against fellow French side Monaco, overturning a two-goal deficit to secure a valuable 3-2 win at the Stade Louis II in Monaco in the first leg of their playoff tie.
The Parisian club owes its victory to substitute striker Désiré Douet, who scored twice in the 29th and 67th minutes after replacing winger Ousmane Dembélé, who was forced off with a calf injury in the 25th minute. Douet was also instrumental in the second goal, scored by Moroccan international defender Achraf Hakimi, who pounced on a rebound after his initial shot was saved by Swiss goalkeeper Philippe Kühn (41).
Luis Enrique's men found themselves trailing by two early goals, scored by American Folarin Balogun after just 56 seconds and in the 18th minute. However, they responded strongly and missed a penalty through Portuguese international midfielder Vitinha, whose shot was saved by goalkeeper Con (22).
The Monaco side finished the match with ten men after Russian international striker Aleksandr Golovin was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Vitinha (48).
The two teams will meet again in Paris next Wednesday for the second leg.
