Sharjah 24 – AFP: Thai police took a creative approach during the Lunar New Year celebrations, disguising themselves in traditional Lion Dance costumes to apprehend a suspect in Bangkok. A video released by the Bangkok police showed officers dressed as red and yellow lions approaching the man, with one officer emerging from the costume to tackle him to the ground.

The 33-year-old suspect is accused of stealing religious artifacts, including two Buddha statues valued at over two million baht (around €54,000). Police had been monitoring him for several weeks and chose to integrate into the Lion Dance parade on Wednesday as a strategic way to capture him without alerting the public.
