Advancing research through CASIC
The collaboration will be driven through the Centre for Arab Studies and Islamic Civilisations at AUS, reinforcing its role in promoting research and partnerships that deepen understanding of Arab and Islamic civilisations and their contemporary contributions to global knowledge.
AUS Chancellor Dr Tod Laursen said the agreement reflects a shared national priority to build a knowledge-driven future by linking rigorous academic research with real-world platforms. He highlighted opportunities for joint publications, student engagement and public programs, particularly in areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence and AI-enabled knowledge dissemination, alongside strengthening Arabic as a language of scholarship.
Focus on digital transformation and AI
Under the MoU, both institutions will pursue joint academic and research initiatives in knowledge management, sustainability, future foresight and the role of artificial intelligence in knowledge dissemination. The partnership also prioritises preserving and developing Arabic within digital and scholarly contexts.
The agreement enables joint academic projects, publications, scholarly exchanges and knowledge dialogues, creating new opportunities for collaboration between researchers, faculty and students.
Expanding digital Arabic knowledge resources
The MoU enhances connectivity between AUS research networks and MBRF platforms by linking AUS library resources with MBRF’s Digital Knowledge Hub and publications. It also includes collaboration to enrich digital Arabic archives, including technologies for automatic Arabic text recognition, and workshops to help faculty and students maximise the use of MBRF knowledge resources.
Promoting community engagement and lifelong learning
The partnership places strong emphasis on community engagement through initiatives that foster a culture of reading, science and lifelong learning. Planned activities include conferences, forums and knowledge dialogues centred on innovation, sustainability and cultural development.
MBRF CEO Jamal bin Huwaireb described the MoU as a strategic platform for impactful collaboration that supports scientific research, empowers academic institutions and contributes to building a prosperous, knowledge-based economy.
