Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF), in cooperation with the American University of Sharjah (AUS), implemented a series of specialised training courses, including the "Generation of Speakers" course and the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) preparation course, with the participation of approximately 50 students affiliated with the Foundation. This is part of the foundation's commitment to empowering students academically and enhancing their educational abilities and skills within the "Teach with a Pen" project, which supports the education of orphaned students.

The courses were conducted under the supervision of volunteer students from the American University in Sharjah. The "Generation of Speakers" course aimed to develop effective communication and public speaking skills, and to build self-confidence in children, through interactive training content that focuses on expression skills. Crafting impactful messages and enhancing personal presence were key components of the program, while the IELTS course was designed to support students' academic journeys and prepare them for higher education by developing their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills according to the requirements of the international test.

The IELTS preparation course aimed to improve students' academic performance and readiness for higher education by developing their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills according to the requirements of the international test. Nawal Al-Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department, confirmed in a statement:

"The collaboration with the American University of Sharjah represents an important strategic milestone in the integrated empowerment of our children, and reflects the Foundation's commitment to providing an advanced program system that combines personal development with enhanced academic readiness. "This prepares children who have lost their fathers to confidently and competently navigate the university experience.

Al-Hamdi explained: “Paying attention to developing communication and language skills is a pivotal element in building a conscious personality capable of effective expression and positive interaction with society,” noting that these quality training programs contribute to discovering the latent potential of children. Developing their abilities and channeling their energies towards constructive paths will enhance their self-confidence and support the establishment of their personal identity on solid foundations.

She added: “The collaboration with the American University of Sharjah embodies the depth of the long-standing partnership, which over the years has laid solid foundations for integration and joint work between the social and academic sides, contributing to the transfer of scientific expertise and training experiences to the students. ” As part of the foundation's plans to prepare a capable, self-reliant generation that actively participates in the community development process.

On the other hand, Aisha Al-Raisi, Senior Director of Community Service and Student Leadership at the university, stated: The distinguished partnership between the American University of Sharjah and the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation is a pioneering model of effective community collaboration and a true embodiment of the role of educational institutions in serving the community and promoting sustainable development.

She continued: We emphasise the continuation of educational workshops provided by university students to social empowerment students, which achieves a clear positive impact from these initiatives, as they reflect the mutual benefit achieved by both parties through the exchange of experiences and knowledge and capacity building. She emphasised that the university believes in the importance of utilising students' energies and academic expertise to serve the community, noting that these initiatives contribute to strengthening students' sense of social responsibility and simultaneously support the empowerment of the beneficiary students.

She added: “At the American University of Sharjah, we strive to leverage the expertise of our students and harness it to serve the community, through quality educational initiatives that contribute to providing academic and knowledge support to social empowerment students. ”The re-implementation of the IELTS course for the second time, along with the Generation of Speakers course, confirms the success of the experience and our commitment to achieving maximum benefit and a lasting positive impact.

Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Bakr, a student in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering at the university, said: "Establishing and leading the 'Generation of Speakers' program is one of the most profound and impactful experiences in my university career, and we are honoured to collaborate with the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation to empower our colleagues affiliated with the Foundation beyond theories and books, through character building and enhancing social intelligence. "Developing communication and interpersonal skills, this training reinforced our belief that a confident voice and effective presence can create real and tangible change, and I am very proud of my team who have transformed this vision into a lasting impact.

These courses are part of a series of collaborations that the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation is keen to implement with a leading academic institution, the American University of Sharjah, which enhances the quality of the programs offered and ensures the sustainability of the educational and skills impact. In support of our children's journey towards a future based on knowledge and comprehensive empowerment.
