Sharjah24 : The Ministry of Defence announced that the UAE’s air defence systems successfully dealt on Wednesday (4 March 2025) with three ballistic missiles and detected 129 drones, of which 121 were intercepted, while eight fell within the country’s territory.
The Ministry explained that since the beginning of the blatant Iranian aggression, 189 ballistic missiles launched toward the country have been detected. Of these, 175 missiles were destroyed, 13 fell into the sea, and one missile landed within the country’s territory. A total of 941 Iranian drones were also detected, with 876 intercepted, while 65 landed within the country’s territory. Additionally, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage. The incidents resulted in three fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationalities, and 78 minor injuries among individuals of Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, and Afghan nationalities.

The Ministry affirmed that the sounds heard in various parts of the country are the result of air defence systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets intercepting drones and cruise missiles, which led to minor to moderate material damage to a number of civilian properties.

The Ministry strongly condemned this military targeting, describing it as a blatant aggression and a flagrant violation of national sovereignty and international law. It affirmed that the UAE reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its people, and residents, in a manner that ensures the preservation of its sovereignty, security, stability, and national interests.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that it is fully prepared and ready to deal with any threats, taking all necessary measures to firmly counter anything that seeks to undermine the country’s security and stability. It added that the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors is a top priority that cannot be compromised.

The Ministry also called on the public to obtain information from official sources in the country and avoid circulating rumours or unverified information.
