Sharjah24: The Ministry of Defence announced that United Arab Emirates air defence systems detected 16 ballistic missiles on Saturday, 7 March 2026, of which 15 were intercepted and destroyed, while one missile fell into the sea.

Air defence systems also detected 121 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), of which 119 were intercepted, while two fell within UAE territory.

Total interceptions since start of attacks

Since the start of the Iranian attacks, the Ministry reported that 221 ballistic missiles have been detected, of which 205 were destroyed, while 14 fell into the sea and two landed within UAE territory.

A total of 1,305 Iranian UAVs have also been detected, with 1,229 intercepted, while 76 UAVs fell within the territory of the UAE. In addition, eight cruise missiles were detected and destroyed.

Casualties reported

The attacks resulted in three deaths of nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, and caused 112 minor injuries among individuals of various nationalities, including Emirati, Egyptian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, Afghan, Bahraini, Comorian, and Turkish nationals.

Ministry reaffirms readiness

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that it remains fully ready to handle any threats and will decisively oppose any effort to compromise the country's security.

It emphasised its ongoing commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability, while also protecting its national interests and capabilities.
