The 2026 rankings, published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, evaluate over 18,300 university programmes across 1,700 institutions worldwide in 55 academic disciplines.
AUS ranked first in the UAE for Arts and Humanities (333 globally), third in Social Sciences and Management (331 globally), and fourth in Engineering and Technology (311 globally), bolstering its national leadership across key academic fields.
In specialised fields, AUS achieved the leading position in UAE for Architecture and the Built Environment, Linguistics (a new entry; tied), and Accounting and Finance (tied). It ranked second in Materials Science (a new entry) and Civil and Structural Engineering, and third in Business and Management Studies, as well as Economics and Econometrics. AUS also ranked among the top five in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Chemistry in the UAE.
Globally, AUS made significant progress, with Architecture improving by about 60 places, Computer Science by more than 130 places, Electrical Engineering by over 50 places, Mathematics by 150 places, and Chemical Engineering by roughly 100 places.
“These QS subject rankings reflect the dedication and creativity of our faculty, students and researchers,” said Tod Laursen. “Our progress is rooted in our role within the Sharjah innovation ecosystem, connecting research, entrepreneurship and industry to generate impact locally and globally.”
AUS’s research ecosystem comprises six research centres, 22 research groups, and endowed chairs, fostering interdisciplinary work in sustainability, AI, water and energy systems, and advanced materials. More than 40 partnerships signed in 2025 have enhanced collaboration, citation impact, and innovation.
AUS offers a student-centred learning environment that combines academic excellence with practical experience. Strong employer reputation indicators highlight high demand for AUS graduates across architecture, engineering, business, sciences and humanities.
