Sharjah 24: Dr Mahdi Habib Al Aboudi, a family medicine expert at the University Hospital in Sharjah, explained that sudden changes in the weather that follow rainfall or storms can casue various health problems, most commonly respiratory illnesses such as colds and flu. Additionally, stagnant water and swamps can cause a spread of insect which leads to heath issues.

In his remarks to “Sharjah 24”, Dr Al Aboudi stressed the importance for people with respiratory illnesses to stay cautious, recommending carrying their medications and staying away from areas exposed to storms and strong winds. for those who show symptoms of cold and flu, he advised to drink plenty of warm fluids and take pain relievers and fever reducers, with the importance of seeking medical attention if symptoms worsen or if unusual fatigue develops.

He advised against leaving standing water around the house for it can attract mosquitoes and other kinds of disease-carrying insects, posing a risk to public health, especially for children.
