In a post on X, Sharif also urged Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for the same two-week period, describing it as a goodwill gesture amid heightened regional tensions.
The appeal came just hours before a deadline set by Trump to carry out what he described as the “complete demolition” of Iran’s critical infrastructure—including bridges and power facilities—if no agreement is reached by midnight GMT.
A central US demand has been the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which has remained largely closed since the start of the US-Israeli offensive on February 28.
Responding to Sharif’s proposal, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president had been informed and would respond in due course.
Earlier in Washington, Trump intensified his rhetoric, warning that “a whole civilization will die” if Iran does not comply with US demands.
Pakistan has positioned itself as a key intermediary between Tehran and Washington, aiming to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
Sharif said diplomatic efforts toward a peaceful resolution are progressing steadily and could yield meaningful results soon.
He also called on all parties involved in the conflict to observe a two-week ceasefire, allowing diplomacy to reach a lasting resolution and promote long-term regional stability.
Islamabad has reiterated its readiness to host meaningful talks between the United States and Iran.
