The celebration recognises the museum’s contribution to spreading scientific knowledge through innovative, hands-on methods that combine education with experience, keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements. It also reinforces its position as a cultural and educational landmark supporting Sharjah’s status as a cultural capital in the Arab world, while remaining one of the UAE’s most interactive museums that encourages curiosity and imagination.
To mark the anniversary, the museum will roll out a year-long series of monthly programmes, each dedicated to a specific scientific theme starting from April 17. Activities will include family workshops, initiatives, and celestial observations, offering educational and engaging experiences while highlighting key milestones in the museum’s development and pioneering role.
The programme includes “With the Family Towards Science” in May alongside International Museum Day and the Year of the Family, followed by Environment and Sustainability Month in June with World Environment Day workshops. July will feature Space and Moon Month and “Moon Day” activities, while August will host “Summer with the Family is Sweeter” as part of 2026 summer programmes. September will include the “Science Challenge with Families” designed for people with hearing impairments, while October marks International Day of Older Persons and World Space Week 2026. November continues with innovation, child, and family-focused activities, and December concludes with National Day celebrations.
Since its opening, the museum has significantly expanded its programmes and scientific content, adopting an interactive approach that allows visitors to experience science directly and link theory with practice. Initiatives such as Summer of Science, innovation events, and seasonal camps have strengthened its position as a leading educational destination for families and students.
The museum has expanded its reach through partnerships with several local and international institutions, including the Emirates Astronomical Society, International Astronomy Center, Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, Sharjah Academy for Space Sciences and Technology, Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Initiative, Emirates Foundation for Young People, Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, Sharjah Municipality, University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, Khalifa University, and others, enhancing its educational programmes and outreach.
The museum features interactive exhibits covering physics, biology, astronomy, physiology, sound, and light, enabling hands-on exploration of scientific concepts. Its planetarium, one of the earliest in the country, presents immersive astronomical shows, while nearly 15 live science demonstrations explore topics such as static electricity, lasers, extreme cold physics, the digestive system, and Earth’s origins, along with simplified children’s presentations.
The museum’s educational centre supports its mission through a science lab, exploration areas, and classrooms for different grade levels, offering more than 30 workshops for students and the wider community. Year-round activities include evening family workshops, holiday camps, temporary exhibitions, and participation in global events such as World Space Week and International Children’s Day, complemented by facilities like a children’s play area and learning corner with puzzles and educational games.
