Ruqayya Khamis Al Naqbi, the general supervisor of the "How to Become a Writer" program, told Sharjah 24 that the sessions were tailored specifically for those with a genuine interest in writing—covering everything from the fundamentals of the craft to the more technical aspects of storytelling, character development, and ultimately the path to publication. It was a programme built for people who wanted to write, not just think about it.
Al Naqbi observed that participants consistently responded enthusiastically, demonstrating a genuine interest in the training content and a strong commitment to fully utilise the available expertise. Forty participants may not sound like a large number, she said, but the quality of engagement in the room made it feel considerably bigger.
She also emphasised that initiatives of this kind sit at the heart of the Sharjah Book Authority's broader mission— to support cultural life, uncover literary talent, and create environments where creativity is encouraged rather than left to chance. The goal, she said, is straightforward: to help produce a generation of writers who can express their ideas with confidence, clarity, and a professional touch.
