Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR), in cooperation with the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre, part of the Sharjah Digital Department, is organising the "Cyber Capabilities Development Programme" as part of its commitment to enhancing the efficiency of government personnel and improving digital readiness in the emirate.

The programme aims to raise security awareness, develop employee skills, and empower them to effectively address emerging cyber threats and challenges. It also prepares them to implement the latest concepts and technologies in protecting systems and data, thereby enhancing the readiness of government entities and ensuring business continuity and the sustainability of their digital security.

Investing in developing national capabilities in vital technological fields

The programme consists of a specialised training series in cybersecurity, offering practical and applied workshops covering modern and advanced topics. It focuses on the technical and professional aspects related to protecting systems and data. The programme runs until October 2026 and targets Sharjah government employees working in information technology and information security, as well as other relevant personnel.

The programme organisation underscores the importance of investing in developing national capabilities in vital technological fields, and strengthening institutional partnerships to support the establishment of a secure and sustainable digital environment, in line with the Emirate of Sharjah's aspirations for excellence in government work.

His Excellency Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) and Head of SDHR, affirmed that implementing these specialised programmes embodies the importance of cybersecurity as a fundamental pillar in enhancing the efficiency of government work and ensuring the secure continuity of its services. He noted that this series represents an extension of efforts to develop digital awareness and build institutional capacities in this vital field.

Establishing the concepts of protection and security in work environment

His Excellency added that these programmes contribute to establishing the concepts of protection and security in the work environment and enhancing employees' readiness to deal with rapidly evolving digital challenges. This supports building a more integrated and sustainable work system and strengthens the ability of government entities to deal with digital developments and keep pace with rapidly evolving challenges efficiently and flexibly.

For his part, Engineer Abdulnasser Obaid Bukhatir, Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre, affirmed that the "Cyber Capabilities Programme" constitutes a pivotal pillar in building an advanced cyber security system based on proactive readiness, preparedness, enhancing the efficiency of government human capital, and cyber resilience. He pointed out that the accelerating digital transformation requires business models capable of predicting and addressing risks before they occur, not merely reacting to them.

Bukhatir explained that the programme reflects a strategic direction towards empowering national talent with advanced knowledge and applied tools that contribute to strengthening institutional capacity to protect digital assets and ensure business continuity, within an integrated framework that combines governance, technology, and building a security culture.
