The programme comes as part of joint efforts to enhance the readiness of government and private entities in the Emirate of Sharjah to respond to crises and emergencies. This is achieved through the application of business continuity standards, reducing potential impacts on critical operations, ensuring the swift and efficient recovery of activities, and embedding a culture of institutional awareness regarding continuity.
The programme included a range of specialised topics, covering business continuity concepts, business continuity operations management, emergency, crisis and disaster management, as well as internal auditing and review. This is aimed at strengthening role integration and improving the efficiency of relevant work teams.
The programme targeted business continuity teams across various entities. Its training sessions were held in the city of Sharjah, while implementation and audit phases were carried out according to a dedicated timeline to ensure compliance with programme requirements and enhance institutional practices.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates were honoured and awarded accredited certificates issued by the Sharjah Human Resources Department and the Sharjah Police General Command, in recognition of their efforts and active participation in completing the programme requirements.
The programme reflects the commitment of both sides to developing institutional capabilities and strengthening preparedness and response systems, supporting business continuity across various sectors and contributing to a flexible and sustainable working environment.
His Excellency Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi stated that the Business Continuity Programme is part of the department’s efforts to enhance the readiness of government and private entities and improve institutional efficiency in dealing with crises and emergencies, ensuring the continuity of vital services.
He added that cooperation with the Sharjah Police General Command reflects role integration and the application of best practices in business continuity, enhancing institutional resilience and rapid recovery capabilities. He also noted that qualifying national cadres and embedding a culture of awareness and preparedness are key pillars in supporting sustainable institutional work and developing a flexible and secure government work environment.
For his part, His Excellency Brigadier General Dr Ahmed Saeed Al Naour explained that the first training programme in the field of business continuity represents an integrated approach aimed at raising the readiness of government entities and strengthening their ability to sustain the delivery of essential services in various circumstances and emergencies. He noted that it is the first phase of a 2026 training plan that includes 10 specialised programmes, some of which are accredited courses in cooperation with the BSI Institute, aligning with global best practices in this field.
He further explained that the programme focused on applied aspects related to developing business continuity plans and managing risks and emergencies efficiently and professionally. He added that the participation of several government entities contributed to unifying concepts and methodologies and enhancing the exchange of expertise, thereby improving institutional readiness and supporting business continuity sustainability.
