Theyab bin Mohamed reviews Etihad Rail projects

Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail, met with Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, along with a number of the company’s senior leaders and employees, at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.

Review of latest freight and passenger rail developments

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Theyab reviewed the latest developments in both the freight and passenger rail projects, as well as the company’s strategic plans for the coming years, including the expansion of its logistics services ecosystem, strengthening connectivity across the Emirates, and supporting the nation’s vision for sustainable transport.

Briefing on upcoming passenger rail service

His Highness also received a detailed briefing on the final preparations for the introduction of the highly anticipated passenger rail service, which is scheduled to begin operations later in 2026.

Progress on national transport integration initiatives

In addition, His Highness met with officials from the Public Policy Integration for Truck and Rail Committee, led by Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, and was briefed on 11 initiatives to strengthen railway integration, four of which have already been implemented.

Commendation of national railway achievements

Sheikh Theyab commended the efforts of Etihad Rail teams and relevant entities, highlighting that these milestones reflect the leadership’s vision of building an integrated infrastructure that strengthens the UAE’s position as a regional transport and logistics hub.
