Sharjah 24: A generous benefactor has come forward through the Pain and Hope programme to cover the remaining cost of treatment for eleven-year-old Egyptian child Anas Mohammed Allam, who suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The youngster needed 6 million dirhams to complete the full cost of a gene therapy injection — one of the most expensive medical treatments in the world — with the total bill standing at 10.6 million dirhams.

The breakthrough came after the benefactor made his pledge live on the show, which airs on Sharjah TV under the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. In doing so, he put an end to what had been an agonising wait for Anas and his family, who had been in a desperate race against time to secure the funds needed to save his life.

Anas himself spoke with a simplicity that left many speechless. "I just want to live," he said — words that carried the full weight of a child watching his body fail him, his muscles weakening a little more with each passing day. His doctors had been clear: receiving this treatment quickly was not merely important; it was his last real chance.

Those who had rallied to his cause had already raised around 4 million dirhams through public donations before the benefactor's intervention completed the picture. It was a moment that went beyond the numbers—a quiet but powerful expression of solidarity, generosity, and what communities are capable of when someone truly needs it.
