Sharjah 24: Salem Abdulrahim, a renewable energy engineer at the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, highlighted that Gheras, part of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation (EKTIFA), produces a variety of organic crops, including tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, onions, and fruits like strawberries and blueberries. These products are non-GMO and support the Department's goal of self-sufficiency and community health.

Abdulrahim told “Sharjah 24” that the company switched to greenhouse farming after doing extensive research to improve agricultural operations and fit with the UAE's climate. This method increases production efficiency and allows for year-round crop sustainability.

He emphasized that Gheras aims to satisfy the needs of the local market in the Emirate and the country by providing high-quality, locally produced goods that meet top international standards. This supports the Department's vision and objectives.
