Sharjah 24: Al Hamriyah Municipality, in cooperation with Sharjah Police and several supporting and partner entities, launched its annual "Safe and Happy Summer" campaign on Friday and Saturday at Al Hamriyah Beach Park. The event drew a large crowd and enthusiastic participation from families, children, and visitors.

The launch featured a diverse range of awareness, entertainment, and guidance activities, along with competitions, raffles, gifts, and valuable prizes, reflecting the municipality's commitment to enhancing quality of life and promoting community safety during the summer season.

Promoting maritime safety culture

The second day's activities, coinciding with World Turtle Day, included a special corner organised by Al Hamriyah Municipality to raise awareness about sea turtles and the importance of their conservation. The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) also participated with an environmental awareness exhibition showcasing its efforts to protect the environment and biodiversity. The Sharjah International Marine Sports Club also participated in the events, presenting educational marine demonstrations and experiences aimed at promoting a culture of maritime safety. The marine rescue company, Tornado Landscape, conducted an awareness seminar on the meaning of beach flags, the symptoms of dry drowning, and methods of prevention, as part of efforts to raise awareness and safety standards among beachgoers.

The Municipal Control and Inspection Department organised an interactive Q&A session in the open sea and beach park, aiming to educate visitors on general guidelines and proper behaviurs related to safety and public health.

Including everyone

The events also included an information booth showcasing the floating swimming chair, designed to enable people with disabilities and senior citizens to enjoy swimming and access the beach safely, reflecting the municipality's commitment to providing an inclusive and accessible beach environment for all.

His Excellency Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriya Municipality, confirmed that the “Safe and Happy Summer” campaign comes within the municipality’s ongoing efforts to enhance community awareness and consolidate public safety concepts in innovative ways that combine entertainment and benefit, noting that the campaign will continue throughout the summer through a series of programs and events aimed at all segments of society in cooperation with strategic partners.
