Sharjah 24: Embodying the spirit of adventure and challenge, members of the Sharjah Capability Development (Tatweer), reached the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, at a height of 5,895 metres above sea level, the highest peak in the African continent.
13 out of 14 participants succeeded in reaching the peak within the “Towards the Peaks” programme, which aims to enable the youth to climb mountain peaks. The programme consists of three stages: climbing a local peak, then climbing an Arab peak, and finally climbing a global peak.

Members could climb the peak after strenuous training, as they underwent intensive exercises that enabled them to climb mountains and adapt to different heights and terrains. Sharjah Capability Development was also keen to follow up on the performance of the participants during the three stages of the programme, to ensure their readiness to face the challenges of climbing. The focus was also on enhancing their skills, such as teamwork, persistence, and perseverance, in addition to mental and physical flexibility and resilience.

Participants expressed their pride and accomplishment, stressing that the journey was full of challenges, but also an opportunity to acquire new skills and boost their self-confidence. They also pointed out the importance of the support from the trainers and supervisors, who provided them with guidance and inspiration throughout the training period.

This achievement is not just climbing a mountain peak but rather a solid message to the youth of Sharjah that challenge and perseverance can open new horizons for them and enhance their ability to achieve goals and ambitions.

Sharjah Capability Development Foundation looks forward to continuing this programme and expanding its scope to include more events and adventures that inspire young people and enhance their capabilities, contributing to developing their community and motivating them to challenge and innovate.
