Sharjah 24: Mohammed Abdullah Al Qaed, a member of the Board of Directors of Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, announced the opening of the 13th edition of the Sharjah International Athletics Forum for the Disabled, organised by the club from February 2 to 4, 2025.

International Participation and Competitions

The event sees 181 male and female athletes from across the globe competing in 70 different competitions. Athletes are participating in various categories, showcasing their skills and talents.

Thrilling opening day

The first day of the event featured thrilling competitions, with world champions taking part in track events, including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m. In addition, the field events, such as club, discus, javelin, shot put, high jump, long jump, and triple jump, were held. These events cater to participants across different categories, including motor and visual disabilities, cerebral palsy, mental disabilities, and amputations.

A Platform for global competitions

Al Qaed emphasised that the Sharjah International Athletics Meeting provides a unique opportunity for participants to improve their performances and engage in international-level competitions, further promoting inclusivity in sports.
