Looking ahead, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad announced that the Authority will introduce several strategic initiatives focused on drug prevention and community awareness. These campaigns will target all age groups, with a particular emphasis on youth.
A flagship initiative will be the integration of ‘Security and Safety’ as a subject into primary and secondary school curricula, aimed at embedding awareness and responsibility from an early age.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad described the establishment of the Authority as a turning point in unifying national efforts and coordinating actions among all relevant stakeholders. The ultimate goal, he explained, is to build an integrated ecosystem for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation that protects society from the dangers of drug abuse.
He emphasised that success in combating drug use requires a collective effort involving government entities, families, and educational and social institutions to raise awareness and safeguard communities from addiction.
On the international front, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad highlighted the UAE’s commitment to global security through strong international anti-drug cooperation. He noted that partnerships with 24 countries have led to the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics abroad, reinforcing the UAE’s role as an active and responsible global partner.
Addressing digital challenges, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad reported that the fight against online drug promotion has resulted in identifying and blocking more than 2,297 malicious websites and social media accounts, underscoring the Authority’s proactive efforts to counter emerging threats in the digital space.
