The exhibition highlights aspects of Mokhtar’s personal artistic journey and features more than 35 works showcasing various Arabic calligraphic styles created over many years. His pieces stem from personal perspective, artistic insight, and emotional and intellectual experiences that transport viewers from one contemplative state to another, forming unique visual interpretations within the boundless world of letters.
Al Owais, Al Qaseer, and attendees toured the exhibition, listening to Mokhtar’s explanation of the artworks, the ideas they carry, and the artistic and cultural concepts he has developed over the years. Visitors paused at several pieces noted for their innovative techniques and diverse themes, which added an aesthetic and intellectual depth to the exhibition.
At the conclusion of the tour, Al Owais and Al Qaseer presented Sudanese artist Mohamed Mokhtar with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his artistic efforts and his contribution to enriching the cultural and artistic landscape.
Mokhtar’s exhibition is distinguished by the mastery and fluidity of his calligraphic forms, crafted within a balanced and integrated structure of Arabic calligraphy. His long artistic journey is evident in his geometric letterforms—such as those inspired by Kufic script and other styles that harmonise with each artwork’s theme, structure, and technique. The exhibition reveals the artist’s deep aesthetic experience, expressed through the interplay of form and space, reflecting elements of modern artistic composition that shaped the exhibition's concept and led to pieces combining multiple layers of beauty and meaning.
Across backgrounds and colour fields, the artworks blend seamlessly, creating a sense of harmony and cohesion. While the pieces may appear similar from afar, each carries a distinct essence. This contrast opens the door to a unique design rhythm, forming an innovative foundation for Arabic calligraphy.
From the artist’s personal contemplative viewpoint, Mokhtar affirms that calligraphic creativity is deeply subjective, emerging from emotional and intuitive impulses in the moment of creation. His works draw attention through traditional compositions of form and space, and excerpts of poetry and quotations from various rulers. He emphasises that a creative calligrapher, like any artist, does not settle for the familiar but continually seeks new and meaningful directions, distancing himself from mainstream trends to chart a unique path of authenticity and renewal.
