Sharjah 24: Marseille continued their resurgence, securing their third consecutive victory in the French Ligue 1, defeating Nice 5-1 in the opening match of the 13th round, temporarily climbing to the top of the table.

Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring in the 11th minute, followed by goals from England's Mason Greenwood (33rd and 53rd minutes), the American Timothy Weah (58th minute), and Brazil's Igor Baixao (74th minute). Mohammed Ali Shaw scored Nice's lone goal in the 63rd minute.

Win after defeat

In their last six matches before this encounter at the Allianz Riviera stadium, Marseille had suffered three defeats across all competitions, including two in the Champions League. However, they remained undefeated in the league, dropping only two points.

With their third consecutive league victory, Marseille temporarily moved to the top of the table with 28 points, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's match against Le Havre on Saturday.

This important win comes before a crucial Champions League group stage match for the southern French side against Newcastle United on Tuesday.
