Sharjah 24: BRIDGE Summit 2025, the world’s largest debut media event, will welcome Bassem Youssef — one of the Arab world’s most influential satirists and cultural commentators — for a major keynote session on December 10, 2025.

Keynote session: “A Decade of Satire: Did It Work?”

Youssef will lead a session titled “A Decade of Satire: Did It Work?” on the Forum Stage, examining how humor, influence, and public discourse intersect within today’s global content economy. The talk will explore satire as a tool for civic courage, truth-telling, and cultural reflection, revisiting moments where it challenged power and the limits it encountered within an evolving media landscape.

About Bassem Youssef

Often described as the Jon Stewart of the Arab World, Youssef is a pioneering political satirist and former host of AlBernameg, the Middle East’s first major political satire program. Starting as a five-minute YouTube experiment, the show evolved into a region-defining television phenomenon, attracting over 30 million viewers weekly and reshaping public discourse across the Arab world.

Youssef’s fearless style earned him global recognition, including being named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and receiving the International Press Freedom Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists. He has also appeared on The Daily Show, hosted the International Emmy Awards, and featured in the acclaimed documentary Tickling Giants, along with his digital series The Democracy Handbook and his book Revolution for Dummies.

Before his media career, Youssef was a cardiothoracic surgeon for 13 years and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons — a remarkable career transformation that adds to his unique profile.
