UAE, Ecuadorian President discuss bilateral cooperation

Sharjah 24 – WAM: UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Daniel Noboa, President of the Republic of Ecuador, discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, investment, renewable energy, sustainability, and other priority development sectors serving the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.

Meeting held at Qasr Al Shati

The meeting took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi during President Noboa’s official visit to the UAE.

Greetings on UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad

At the start of the meeting, President Noboa congratulated His Highness on the occasion of the UAE’s 54th Eid Al Etihad and wished the country continued progress and prosperity.

Commitment to strengthening cooperation

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening development cooperation and broadening its scope, aiming to harness the diverse opportunities within the UAE-Ecuador partnership in support of their shared vision for development.

Discussions on regional and global issues

His Highness and President Noboa exchanged views on several issues of mutual interest, emphasising the importance of collaboration to strengthen peace and stability at regional and global levels, as a pathway to development and prosperity.

UAE’s commitment to Latin American partnerships

His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to expanding economic partnerships with Latin American countries, noting significant progress in recent years, and highlighted the strengthening of UAE-Ecuador ties as part of the broader vision for inclusive development partnerships.

Ecuador’s interest in expanding cooperation

President Noboa thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for the warm welcome and expressed Ecuador’s eagerness to expand economic and investment partnerships with the UAE, particularly in the economy, tourism, and renewable energy sectors.

Signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding

As part of the visit, the UAE and Ecuadorian Presidents attended the signing and announcement of a cooperation agreement and two memoranda of understanding:

Investment Promotion Agreement: Promoting and protecting mutual investments, signed by UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy and President Daniel Noboa.

Digital Economy MoU: Between the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Ecuador’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society, and the Ecuadorian Chamber of Innovation and Technology, signed by UAE Minister Omar Sultan Al Olama and Ecuadorian Minister Roberto Carlos Kury Pesantes.

Labour Mobility MoU: Cooperation in labour mobility between the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Ecuador’s Ministry of Labour.

The meeting and signing ceremony were attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, along with other sheikhs, ministers, and senior officials.
