Sharjah24-WAM: A UAE humanitarian aid aircraft departed Al Maktoum International Airport on Wednesday morning, heading to Al Arish in Egypt, where its cargo will be transferred to the Gaza Strip as part of Operation Gallant Knight 3 — the UAE's ongoing relief mission supporting the Palestinian people.

Launched in November 2023 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the operation has run continuously ever since, despite shifting conditions on the ground. Mohammed Al Shareef, spokesperson for Operation Gallant Knight 3, said that with today's flight, the operation has now delivered more than 123,000 tonnes of aid to Gaza — valued at over US$3.1 billion and representing more than 46 per cent of all international humanitarian assistance received by the Strip. He described the operation as part of a long-running pattern of UAE humanitarian engagement, not a one-off response to a single crisis.

Hundred tonnes of urgent supplies

Hammoud Saeed Al Afari, relief operations coordinator for Operation Gallant Knight 3, said today's aircraft is carrying 100 tonnes of urgent supplies, including medical equipment for the healthcare sector, nutritional supplements for children, and Eid clothing – items selected to address the most immediate needs of families in Gaza.

Partners

The mission is being carried out in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, the International Charity Organisation, and Dar Al Ber Society, reflecting the breadth of the UAE's humanitarian network and its ability to mobilise multiple organisations for a shared effort. Al Afari said the uninterrupted continuity of Operation Gallant Knight 3 is itself a statement — one that positions the UAE firmly among the countries most committed to reaching people in need, wherever they are.
