Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Falconers Club concluded the 2025 Telwah Championship after five days of intense competition, reaffirming its status as one of the most prominent annual events for falconry enthusiasts. The championship aims to promote the heritage of falconry and provide an opportunity for participants of all ages to showcase their skills and elevate this authentic sport, deeply rooted in national identity.

The organisation of this year's championship reinforces the club's role in preserving the legacy of falconry and providing an opportunity for participants of all ages to showcase their skills, contributing to raising their standards and strengthening the presence of this authentic sport deeply connected to national identity.

 

General rounds

 

The competitions began on the first day with the general rounds for the Open, Pure Gyr, and Gyr-Peregrine categories, where the strength and challenge were evident from the outset. The second day continued with the general rounds for the Open, Pure Qarmousha, and Gyr-Peregrine categories, amidst a remarkable audience turnout that boosted the participants' enthusiasm and created a vibrant atmosphere.

 

Owners’ category

 

On the third day, the rounds were dedicated to the owners' category for the Pure Gyr and Gyr-Peregrine falcons. The fourth day concluded with the owners' competitions for the Pure Qarmousha and Gyr-Peregrine categories. The middle days were characterised by high levels of competition, reflecting the owners' improved skills and their excellent preparation for the championship.

 

Combined categories

 

The fifth day of the championship concluded with the combined categories, including the junior competitions for the Saker and Peregrine falcons. The young falconers delivered outstanding performances, showcasing their skill in controlling their birds and their deep passion for falconry. This success underscores the club's effectiveness in attracting the next generation and building a promising future base of falconers.

 

Distinguished attendance

 

The championship was attended by His Excellency Mohammed Obaid Al Hosan, Secretary General of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), who observed some of the competitions, reviewed the participants' performances, and commended the Sharjah Falconers Club for its efforts in supporting this traditional sport and promoting its presence among young people.

 

Also present at the championship were several members of the Sharjah Falconers Club's Board of Directors: Abdul Aziz Sultan Al Ali, Vice Chairman; Saeed Obaid Al Mayala, Secretary General; Saeed Matar Dalmouk Al Ketbi, Head of the Cultural and Community Activities Committee; Obaid Matar Markhan Al Ketbi, Head of the Media and Communication Committee; Salem Saeed Khasouni Al Ketbi, Financial Director; and Abdullah Saeed Bin Nouma Al Ketbi, Head of the Marketing and Investment Committee.
