Speaking to Sharjah24, Al Musallam explained that the Institute was founded 11 years ago as a national Emirati initiative with a strong Arab identity, before quickly expanding its presence across the Arab world and internationally. This growing role resulted in UNESCO recognising the Institute as an international capacity-building centre for the Arab region, establishing it as a recognised regional and global hub.
Al Musallam highlighted that the Sharjah Institute for Heritage has played a pioneering role in many regional and international forums dedicated to cultural heritage. He expressed pride in the Institute’s success in achieving its mission over the years, emphasising the strong support it has garnered among researchers, specialists, and heritage enthusiasts.
He mentioned that the Institute’s publications reached 1,100 titles this year, demonstrating its commitment to providing essential references and sources for the study of Arab heritage and supporting the preservation and promotion of cultural identity.
