Sharjah24: Sharjah Archives has approved the implementation of a specialised records management system for the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) , as part of ongoing institutional cooperation between the two entities. The system aims to ensure the collection, preservation, and organisation of the institute’s paper and electronic records in accordance with international best standards and practices, while addressing the unique nature of heritage and cultural records maintained by the institute.

The approval was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Archives, and His Excellency Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, in the presence of His Excellency Salah Salem Al Mahmoud, Director General of Sharjah Archives, His Excellency Abu Bakr Al Kindi, Director of the institute, and several officials and staff from both entities.

Strengthening preservation of cultural heritage

Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi praised the significant efforts made by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage’s teams throughout the preparation and approval phases of the system. He emphasised that this cooperation reflects the institute’s commitment to safeguarding Sharjah’s cultural heritage and preserving it for future generations using modern scientific and methodological approaches.

He stated: “Implementing a system tailored to the institute’s records represents a model of institutional integration among government entities. It contributes to enhancing performance quality, organising workflows, and advancing records management systems to higher levels, thereby strengthening Sharjah’s position in heritage preservation.”

Strategic step to protect national memory

For his part, Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam affirmed that adopting the system marks a strategic step in the institute’s efforts to document and preserve Sharjah’s cultural and heritage legacy. He noted that the system aims to protect national memory within an institutional framework that ensures sustainability and accessibility in line with global standards, reflecting Sharjah’s status as a leading hub for authentic heritage.

He added that cooperation with Sharjah Archives embodies a shared commitment to advancing institutional practices. The system has been implemented with precision to align with the unique characteristics of heritage and cultural records held by the institute. The primary goal is to create a secure and sustainable records environment for manuscripts and documents, both paper and electronic, ensuring protection against damage or loss and preserving them as an authentic reference for future generations.
