Sharjah24: Paris Saint-Germain made history by becoming the first French club to win the Club Intercontinental Cup after defeating South American champions Flamengo 2–1 on penalties, following a 1–1 draw after extra time, at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha.
European champions PSG took the lead through Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the 38th minute, before Brazilian-born Italian midfielder Jorginho equalised for Flamengo from the penalty spot in the 62nd minute.
The decisive moment came in the shoot-out, where Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov produced a remarkable display by saving four penalties to secure the trophy for the Parisian side.
The triumph marks PSG’s sixth title of 2025, adding to an already glittering year that included the UEFA Champions League, the French league and cup, the Trophée des Champions, and the UEFA Super Cup.
