Sharjah 24: Sharjah's Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) is getting ready to ensure smooth public transportation during the upcoming New Year holiday. From December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026, they will run 4,500 intercity trips to meet the expected rise in people traveling between cities. This plan is designed to handle busy times and make sure traffic moves easily, allowing everyone to get around without hassles.

These preparations are part of the RTA's commitment to improving life in Sharjah and boosting tourism and local businesses during busy seasons. By preparing early and coordinating closely with different transport services, they aim to effectively manage the expected increase in demand, all while keeping safety and high-quality service as top priorities for everyone using public transport during the holiday.

Enhancing readiness

Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani, the Chairman of the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that they have put together a special plan for the New Year's holiday to make transportation easier for everyone. This plan aims to improve everything related to public transport during the busy holiday period, which runs from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026.

As part of this plan, the RTA will use 120 buses for travel between cities, expecting to make around 4,500 trips to meet the higher demand for transport during this time. To make travel smoother, they will reduce waiting times for buses to just 5 minutes during busy hours, compared to the usual 45 minutes on ordinary days.

Additionally, more staff will be available to help manage the flow of passengers at Al Jubail Station and other locations, providing assistance and ensuring everything runs smoothly for travelers.

The RTA also confirmed that Jubail Station will have extended operating hours, from 3:45 am to 12:30 am, making it more convenient for people to get where they need to go. This step shows the RTA’s commitment to providing reliable service around the clock and making it easier for residents and visitors to move between cities during the festivities.

Efficiency and quality

Engineer Yousef Khamis Al Othmani shared details about the intercity transport plan for the New Year's holiday, which was carefully designed to manage the expected traffic. The goal is to ensure smooth travel and reduce congestion on the busy routes. He highlighted that the Authority is focused on being ready for any situation by organizing buses and trips based on what travelers need, which helps maintain both efficiency and service quality.

Al Othmani also mentioned that the plan is flexible and can adapt to changes on the ground. They have put systems in place to closely monitor how the routes are performing, allowing for quick adjustments if needed. This means that services can continue running smoothly without affecting schedules or the comfort of passengers.

To further enhance their readiness, the Authority has increased staff presence at major stations, especially at Jubail station. This helps manage the flow of passengers, makes getting on and off easier, and offers guidance to travelers. All of these efforts are aimed at reducing crowding and ensuring a smooth experience in transport facilities. Al Othmani stressed that these actions improve how efficiently the system runs and enhance the overall experience for customers, especially during busy times. He also noted that constant communication between teams in the field ensures swift responses to any issues, boosting safety and order within the intercity transport system.

Franchise services

Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, who is in charge of Transportation Affairs at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has announced that public transportation services will keep running during the holiday. The services will follow the usual schedules, making it easier for residents and visitors to get around the emirate.

He emphasized that sticking to these schedules helps keep traffic flowing smoothly and allows people to travel without confusion. The RTA is also committed to maintaining high standards for quality and safety on all public transport routes.

Flexible plans

The Authority has prepared for the busy travel period during the New Year holiday by being flexible with their bus service. They can quickly add more buses when needed to handle the expected increase in passengers. This approach helps ensure that everyone can get where they need to go without any issues.

The Authority operates a fleet of 101 buses that complete over 1,000 trips each day across 13 different routes, stopping at 527 locations. This wide coverage is part of their promise to provide safe and reliable transportation that meets the needs of the community, especially during holidays and special events in Sharjah.

Al Jarwan highlighted that these proactive steps show the Authority's dedication to keeping public transport efficient and responsive. By planning ahead and being ready to adapt, they aim to maintain a level of service that meets the expectations of everyone who uses their buses in Sharjah.
