SEWA and AUS present 2 research papers in MEPCON 2025

Sharjah 24: A delegation from Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), represented by its Research and Studies Department, participated in the 26th Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON 2025), hosted by Aswan University in Egypt over three days.

The conference brought together leading scientists, experts, and researchers from around the world. SEWA's Research and Studies Department presented two research papers, jointly prepared by SEWA and the American University in Sharjah (AUS), as part of the accreditation process by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 

Two research papers

The first paper, titled "Towards Safer and Smarter Tunnel Lighting," addressed the transition from traditional systems to frameworks supported by Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. 

The second paper... Titled "Optimal Transformation of the UAE's Energy Portfolio Towards a Sustainable Future." 

Supporting applied scientific research and strengthening academic partnerships 

Dr Eng Hassan Al Zarouni, Director of Research and Studies at SEWA, explained that the authority’s participation in the conference reflects its commitment to supporting applied scientific research and strengthening academic partnerships to serve the future of sustainable energy. 

He emphasised that the conference, through its scientific and research papers and specialised sessions, discussed the latest technological advancements in the fields of energy and digital transformation, contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
