Sharjah 24: Engineer Dr Abdullah Al Ali, Director of the Roads Maintenance Department at the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA), announced that the Authority dealt efficiently with the recent tropical storm that affected the country. This was achieved through the implementation of proactive plans and comprehensive preparedness, including the deployment of field teams and equipment across the emirate, securing roads, responding immediately to damage, and diverting traffic away from water accumulations.

Engineer Dr Abdullah Al Ali explained that SRTA addressed the effects of the tropical storm through complete readiness and well-thought-out plans that contributed to enhancing road safety and ensuring the continuity of traffic flow throughout the emirate.

Proactive measures

Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Engineer Dr Abdullah Al Ali confirmed that field teams were deployed in advance and strategically, equipped with the necessary machinery and equipment. This enabled rapid intervention in affected areas and immediate action on any roads impacted by rainwater. Traffic diversions were also implemented to help avoid areas of water accumulation.

Post storm plan

The Director of the Roads Maintenance Department at SRTA indicated that the Authority responded immediately to all incoming reports and carried out the necessary maintenance work to ensure road readiness and safety. He emphasised that efforts will continue during the recovery phase through a comprehensive survey to identify damages and affected assets within the road right-of-way.

Al Ali concluded his statement by urging drivers to exercise caution in the coming period, given the ongoing traffic diversions and roadworks, to ensure their safety and the safety of all road users.
