Sharjah 24: The third edition of the Khorfakkan Maritime Festival concluded with strong organisational and public success after ten days of continuous maritime, heritage, and sporting activities held on Khorfakkan Beach.

The event attracted wide participation from ten countries and drew large crowds of citizens, residents, and visitors from within the UAE and abroad.

Strong patronage and strategic support

His Excellency Khalid Jassim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sharjah International Marine Sports Club, told Sharjah 24 that the festival was held with the support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. He noted that this patronage played a key role in achieving the festival’s objectives of highlighting authentic maritime heritage and strengthening Khorfakkan’s position as a leading tourist and maritime destination.

Diverse programme showcasing maritime heritage

Al Midfa explained that the festival offered a rich and varied programme, featuring high-level marine championships, modern marine exhibitions, seafood stalls, interactive workshops, and traditional performances and folk songs that reflected the deep-rooted maritime heritage of participating countries in the region.

Collaboration behind the success

He added that the festival’s success was the result of joint efforts between the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club and Al Sharqiya Channel from Kalba, in cooperation with government and private entities, sponsors, partners, and volunteers. Al Midfa stressed that this collaboration has helped establish the festival as a prominent annual event, expressing hopes to introduce innovative and high-quality additions in future editions to further enhance its cultural and tourism value.
