Sharjah24 : Dr Saeed Bakour, Professor of Classical Arabic Literature at the Higher School of Education and Training at Ibn Tofail University in Morocco, explained that the intellectual programme accompanying the 22nd edition of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival was launched on Thursday at House of Poetry.
Dr Bakour stated that the intellectual programme of the Sharjah Arabic Poetry Festival discusses the emotional trend in Arabic poetry and its transformations. He noted that he presented a critical paper focusing on the emotional trend as a “playing on the key of pain” and a journey on the wings of emotional memory.
In statements to Sharjah 24, Bakour stressed the importance of Arabic poetry criticism in illuminating poetic experiences and highlighting their artistic merit and uniqueness. He explained that the value of critical studies lies in examining and comparing different poetic experiences in order to evaluate, analyse, and interpret them. He added that it is essential for criticism to be present alongside poetic recitations, a balance that gives the festival a distinctive character by bringing together the art of poetry and the art of criticism.
