Sharjah24: Borussia Dortmund rescued a dramatic 3–3 draw against hosts Eintracht Frankfurt in a pulsating Matchday 16 opener in the Bundesliga.

After twice taking the lead, Dortmund looked set for defeat deep into stoppage time before a late strike secured a point. Frankfurt had overturned Dortmund’s lead and moved ahead in added time through substitute Mahmoud Dahoud, only for Carney Chukwuemeka—introduced in the 87th minute—to level in the 96th minute.

Goals and key moments

Dortmund opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Maximilian Beier, following a pass from Julian Ryerson. Frankfurt responded from the spot, as Can Uzun converted a penalty in the 22nd minute after a foul on Robin Koch. Felix Nmecha restored Dortmund’s lead in the 68th minute with a deflected effort, but Frankfurt struck back quickly through Younes Ben Taleb in the 71st minute, assisted by Arnaud Kalimuendo. Dahoud then put the hosts ahead in stoppage time, before Chukwuemeka’s fortunate finish sealed a share of the points.

Table implications

The draw lifted Dortmund to 33 points in second place, eight points behind leaders Bayern Munich, while Frankfurt moved to 26 points in seventh place, level on points with Stuttgart but behind on goal difference.
