Roma climb to third after win over Sassuolo

Sharjah 24 – AFP: Roma secured a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in Matchday 20 of Serie A, moving up to third place and narrowing the gap with league leaders Inter Milan to three points.

Late goals seal Roma's victory

The capital club broke the deadlock in the 76th minute with Frenchman Manu Kone’s header, followed by Argentinian Matias Süle’s goal three minutes later. The win marked Roma’s second consecutive league triumph, bringing their points tally to 39.

Serie A context

Roma achieved this result before other top teams completed their matches: Napoli will face Inter Milan, and AC Milan will play Fiorentina. Roma has, however, played two more matches than the other three clubs. Sassuolo suffered their ninth defeat of the season, remaining on 23 points.

Como rescues late draw against Bologna

Croatian substitute Martin Baturina scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw for Como against Bologna. Como had trailed after Nicolò Campiaghi’s 49th-minute goal but managed to salvage a point despite Bologna playing the final 30 minutes with ten men. Como now sits sixth with 34 points.

Udinese held by bottom club Pisa

Udinese settled for a 2-2 draw against bottom-placed Pisa. After initially falling behind to Matteo Tramoni’s early goal, Udinese responded with strikes from Christian Kabasele and Keinan Davis. Henrik Meister’s 67th-minute equalizer ensured Pisa remained at the bottom with 13 points, while Udinese now have 26 points.
