Sharjah 24: Lazio returned to winning ways in Serie A with a 2-1 victory over Sassuolo in the final match of Matchday 28.

Lazio stopped their run of poor results with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Sassuolo in the final match of Matchday 28 in the Italian Serie A.

Moving up to 10th place

The capital club secured their first league victory after a four-match winless streak.

Lazio moved up to 10th place with 37 points, one point behind ninth-placed Sassuolo, who suffered their first defeat after three wins, and their second loss in their last seven matches.

Daniel Maldini needed just two minutes to open the scoring for Lazio and net his first goal for the capital club. A counter-attack led by Norwegian Gustav Isaksen saw his shot from inside the box deflected off a defender, falling to Maldini who slotted it home.

This was Maldini's fifth league appearance for Lazio, having joined from Atalanta.

However, Frenchman Armand Llorente equalized with a powerful shot from inside the area (35).

As the match drew to a close, Montenegrin Adam Maručić headed in the winning goal for Lazio after a cross from substitute Matteo Ciancilieri, capitalizing on a mistake by Kosovar goalkeeper Arijanet Muriqi (90+2).
