Sharjah 24 – AFP: The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Boston Celtics 100-95 on the Celtics’ home court, marking their second consecutive win after three straight losses. French star Victor Wimpanyama played a key role in securing the victory.

Wimpanyama shines in second half

Victor Wimpanyama, returning from the bench as part of his gradual recovery from a knee injury, scored 21 points—16 of them in the second half—matching DeAaron Fox’s total. He also contributed 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Crucial moments down the stretch

The game was tied 84-84 before Baylor Sherman gave Boston a brief lead with a three-pointer. The Spurs responded with a 9-2 run, highlighted by a three-pointer from Keldon Johnson (18 points, 10 rebounds).

With 1:33 remaining, Wimpanyama put the Spurs ahead again. After a turnover by Jaylen Brown, Julian Champagne extended the lead to 97-93. Wimpanyama sealed the win with a game-winning basket with 19.2 seconds left.

Celtics struggle despite strong performances

Derrick White and Jaylen Brown scored 29 and 27 points respectively, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Boston’s third loss in 12 games and 14th in 38. Wimpanyama described the victory as a testament to the Spurs’ character.

Clippers rally to beat Pistons 98-92

Meanwhile in Detroit, the Los Angeles Clippers overcame a 19-point first-half deficit and a 14-point fourth-quarter gap to defeat the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons 98-92. Injuries to key Pistons players—Cade Cunningham, Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, and Jaylen Dorin—played a major role.

Leonard, Collins, and Harden lead the comeback

Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points, John Collins added 25, and James Harden contributed 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The Clippers outscored the Pistons 30-16 in the fourth quarter, capitalizing on 12 Pistons turnovers.

Key plays seal the victory

Collins sank two free throws to give the Clippers a 93-92 lead with two minutes remaining. Harden then assisted Ivica Zubac on a decisive dunk, securing the win. Duncan Robinson led the Pistons with 20 points but made only one shot in the second half.
