During the visit, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan toured several major facilities at Al Sarooj Park, including the community market Souq Sabie, which plays an important role in supporting local social and economic activities. The market also contributes to empowering productive family projects and revitalising commercial activity within public spaces.
Sheikh Hazza was briefed on the latest developments of the Street Furniture project, which seeks to unify the visual identity of service elements across roads and public areas. This includes seating, benches, waiting shelters, and related infrastructure. The project reflects Al Ain’s unique urban and environmental character through standardised designs that meet the highest safety and quality standards. It also relies on sustainable, climate-resilient materials, extends operational lifespan, reduces maintenance costs, and enhances user experience across roads, parks, and public facilities.
His Highness Sheikh Hazza emphasised that developing parks and public facilities is a fundamental pillar of urban planning. He noted that such projects contribute to building integrated neighbourhoods that meet the needs of families across the Al Ain Region. He also highlighted the importance of designing green spaces that promote community wellbeing, encourage healthy lifestyles, and create a balanced urban environment responsive to community needs.
Al Sarooj Park includes designated areas for mobile camping vehicles (RV Park), accommodating 36 camping vehicles of various sizes. The park also features 60 barbecue areas, a children’s play zone, a theatre for performances, traditional arts and recreational competitions, heritage seating areas, and a shaded pedestrian walkway covering 9,500 square metres. In addition, the park offers an artificial lake and a wide range of public facilities serving visitors of all ages.
The visit also included a tour of the Al Sarooj artificial lake, which spans approximately 7,000 square metres. The lake is surrounded by seating areas and an illuminated walking path, offering visitors a relaxing recreational experience within natural surroundings. The surrounding green spaces help preserve the site’s natural environment and support the transformation of Wadi Al Sarooj Forest into an integrated eco-leisure destination.
Accompanying Sheikh Hazza during the tour were Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Rashed Musabbeh Al Manei, Director-General of Al Ain City Municipality, as well as several senior officials from the Department of Municipalities and Transport and Al Ain City Municipality.
