Sharjah 24: The second edition of the Sharjah Festival of African Literature continues to reflect its theme, The African Way, across its programming, including the Cookery programme and the introduction of a Farm to Table experience.

Designed as a cultural exchange through food, the Farm to Table experience explores the relationship between land, ingredients, and tradition. Fresh, locally grown Emirati produce is incorporated into live cooking sessions that reinterpret African recipes, demonstrating how regional ingredients can adapt to and enrich established culinary practices. The programme underscores food’s role as a shared language that links cultures through everyday rituals.

Daily live cooking sessions at University City Hall Square focus on the practical integration of UAE-grown ingredients into African dishes. Alongside preparation techniques, participating chefs discuss the cultural context and heritage behind each recipe, positioning the kitchen as a space for both learning and storytelling.

Audience members are invited to sample the dishes prepared during the sessions, offering a direct and sensory extension of the Farm to Table experience.
