Sharjah24: The University of Sharjah's Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS) has launched "Gateway to Research 2026", a vibrant annual forum designed to instill a culture of scientific inquiry among the University’s graduate students and new researchers in medicine and health sciences.

Forum highlights University’s regional research ambitions

This dynamic event underscores the University’s strong drive to position itself as a regional powerhouse in research, equipping a new generation of scholars to advance sustainable health and knowledge across the UAE and beyond. By bringing together students, faculty members, industry experts, and researchers, the forum fostered the exchange of ideas, highlighted cutting-edge projects, and strengthened vital academic and professional networks.

Diverse scientific programme

The forum programme featured a wide range of scientific activities, including lectures delivered by leading academics and industry experts on empowering young researchers in pharmaceuticals, quantum applications in medical research, and the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare, alongside its ethical challenges.

In addition, interactive panel discussions explored these themes in depth, generating lively debate, while a poster exhibition showcased and evaluated innovative projects by students and researchers, encouraging creativity and active participation.

Distinguished attendance

The forum was attended by a number of prominent figures, including Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, the University’s Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr Rafaat Hamoudi, Acting Director of RIMHS, as well as deans of medical colleges, faculty members, postgraduate students, and researchers.

The event also welcomed representatives from pharmaceutical companies, specialists in quantum computing in medicine, and healthcare service partners.
