The exhibition featured 50 of the finest student projects selected from across all design courses, reflecting the depth and breadth of the Department’s academic journey. Visitors were guided through a carefully curated progression of work, beginning with the fundamentals of architectural design—where form, space, and basic functions are first explored—and advancing toward increasingly complex functional programmes. As the journey unfolds, projects reveal sophisticated construction details, structural ingenuity, and innovative technical solutions that embody both precision and creativity.
Professor Emad Mushtaha emphasised that this year’s projects are distinguished by their extensive use of artificial intelligence applications at various stages of the design process. This approach contributes to achieving high standards of sustainability and enhancing quality of life by creating smart buildings that reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions, in line with global efforts toward carbon neutrality and environmental preservation.
The showcased projects range from family residences, hotels, shopping and entertainment centres, cultural centres, mosques, and tourist resorts to multi-storey residential buildings, initiatives aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and innovative concepts for outer space architecture.
The exhibition also highlighted projects focused on the development of Islamic architectural design, combining heritage elements with advanced technologies. These designs emphasised sustainable materials and innovative solutions that enhance buildings’ adaptability to climate change.
A series of distinguished design awards were presented, including the Bus Shelter Design Award, the Public Library in Sharjah Award, and the international competition award for the House of the Future 2024/2025. These honours underscore the Department’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement.
AEAE 2026 marks the culmination of a distinguished academic journey, demonstrating the high level of professional training received by architectural engineering students at the University of Sharjah and their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the built environment both locally and globally.
