During the meeting, the committee discussed the mechanism for implementing the programmes set by the World Health Organization, which comprise nine main pillars and 80 sub-criteria. He noted that agreement was reached to coordinate training and alignment workshops with the working teams that will implement these standards across all cities in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Al Muhairi added, in statements to Sharjah 24, that Sharjah was approved as the first healthy city in 2015, followed by re-accreditation in 2022 by the World Health Organization. The scope was then expanded to include all cities in the Emirate of Sharjah, across the eastern and central regions. He explained that all field teams are working to apply and fulfil the standards as soon as possible.
