The competition is one of SNQSE’s long-running Qur’anic initiatives, organised annually during the holy month and aimed at encouraging regular engagement with the Holy Qur’an among government employees across the emirate.
Encouraging memorisation and recitation
The competition seeks to strengthen participants’ connection with the Qur’an by promoting memory and correct recitation among male and female employees working in Sharjah’s government entities. It reflects SNQSE’s continuing role in serving the Qur’an and the Sunnah, with a particular focus on supporting professional and administrative cadres.
Participation is open to employees from all local government departments and authorities in Sharjah, and the programme is designed to foster positive and meaningful competition throughout Ramadan.
Two categories to suit different levels
This year’s edition includes two main categories. The first focuses on memorising Surat Al-Hashr and Surat Al-Mujadila, while the second covers Surat An-Naba’ and Surat An-Nazi’at, allowing employees with varying levels of experience to take part.
Commitment to Qur’anic values in public life
Sultan Matar bin Dalmouk, Chairman of the Board of the Sharjah Noble Qur’an and Sunnah Establishment (SNQSE), said the competition forms part of the establishment’s broader strategy to reinforce the presence of the Qur’an in everyday life, particularly during Ramadan, which he described as a valuable time for reflection, recitation and memorisation.
He noted that the tenth edition marks an important stage within SNQSE’s year-round program of Qur’anic competitions and awards, which aim to nurture values and encourage Qur’anic learning among government employees by recognising their role in the emirate’s development.
Building a lasting Qur’anic culture
Bin Dalmouk added that the Ramadan competition offers a motivating environment that encourages participants to invest their time during the holy month in memorising and reflecting on Qur'anic verses, helping to strengthen a values-based, Qur'an-centered culture within the community.
Previous editions drew strong participation from employees across Sharjah’s government departments, and organisers expect similar engagement this year.
